Automotive Rig Shots

Automotive Rig Shots

Welcome to my first blog about automotive rig shots! This was my first time doing these and I must say it was quite the learning experience. Another local photographer brought over his equipment for the day and we went out for a few hours in a local industrial park. In order to accomplish these, you need a place with nobody around to distract you and get in your way. You also need a VERY smooth road surface.

We mounted my Canon 5D Mark II to the rig and got to work. Here I will show you some setup shots, and the final product. I won’t go into how the rig was assembled and what parts went into it – I plan on making my own this winter though and the little tricks to accomplishing this without doing 100mph was really cool.

The second part of this is the editing process. That’s an entirely different animal but it’s a beast I am all too familiar with. If you are not fluent with Adobe Photoshop, don’t attempt this.

Thanks again to the local photographer for helping with this and getting everything set up.

Do you have any shots that you can see the camera rig before it was edited out? Just as a compare and contrast of how much of it you can see as the photos are being taken?
