I recently decided to get rid of all of my Canon gear and make the switch to Nikon. It was a guilty choice to make considering my long enamored history with Canon and their optics. However, I felt I wanted to take things another direction with something I felt more comfortable with.
After the last wedding I shot in September where a friend who was helping me brought a Nikon D3s, I instantly fell in love. The build quality of that camera was astounding in comparison to my Canon 5D Mark II with BG-E6 grip.
But I digress… Long story short – I gave Canon the boot and switched camps.
I have been looking forward to doing these photos all week as I acquired the Nikkor 105mm 2.8D Micro lens to go with the D3s. So far I think it’s proving to be quite the amazing lens. I had some products for work to photograph this weekend and I felt why not do some misc. things around the house as well that could use some love.
Frankly, I needed the practice.

a quickr pickr post
Here is a setup shot taken from my Droid X. I hope you like the kitchen – it’s really the only place I have to do these things. ;-P

Tools used:
• 2x Alienbees B1600 strobes
• 3x Pocketwizard PLus II’s
• An extremely cumbersome Interfit light box with a white sheet draped over the top and sides with black/charcoal fabric clamped onto the frame to act as the backdrop.
• Nikon D3s
• Nikkor 105mm 2.8D Micro lens
I think the results are great. There are some slight changes I am going to make next time as far as glare reduction goes.
Overall right now, I could not possibly be any happier with the performance of the lens and the camera. I will touch onthat more specifically later on though.
